"Ghost" window opens on my task bar
Well, it'* not really my taskbar.... My wife and I are currently living with friends, and as such we just use their computer. They have the eBay and Google toolbars installed in IE, and whenever I'm on the computer I see a "ghost" window quickly open and close in the taskbar roughly every 10 minutes. Also, we periodically get the message that an error has occurred with the eBay toolbar and IE must close. I then have to restart the computer to get back on the internet because IE won't reopen.
Aside from switching to Firefox, what can I do to remedy all this? It seems like there is some kind of virus or spyware on the computer, but I have run smitREM and Norton Antivirus/Internet Security countless times. Still, nothing changes.
Any ideas?

don't know if this would work but you could check for updates to IE or try to reinstall the newest version. If that for some reason removes the toolbars you can always reinstall them. there have got to be 1000'* of ways to get those onto your computer!
