I've been using skype for a while now, which works fine for me. Not to mention last time I checked, they didn't have a mac client available... which pretty well rules it out.
A little worried about what will happen now that ebay is buying skype though...

tight..just used it with harofreak...works nice...boring...but useful. voice call option would be nice...i need to find a mic. thanks harofreak...

i just read that gmail claims to soon get everyone on board gtalk (mac users too) and i believe them. when they claimed that they would get multi-language support for gmail, they did it in mere months.

Yeah, I'll probably switch over when skype announces that they're going to charge - I figure it'* only a matter of time. They do have some nice features though, that make it more than just a chat client - you can (for a set fee per month) dial land lines, or have land lines call you, as well as get voice mail (like 10 minutes per message, or something like that).
