FWI suggestions, hints, tips, whatever (never mind)
well my last paycheck didnt yield enough funds for the Tranzgenic FWI so im looking at building my own...heres a couple pics to show you what im working with.

stock setup, air is pulled from a surprisingly good location, it comes in from a sealed off location directly behind the headlight, but it also changes direction about 2-3 times with really sharp bends.

top section of airbox removed, you can see the inline MAF sensor at the top of the pic, i cannot get the bottom section of the airbox removed for the life of me, so current plan if i decide to go with it is to dremel away the right side airbox, leaving the PCM sitting as is.

you can see the area where i would like to go in just above the airbox, the fenderwell.

an above view of my intended destination
basically my plan is to somewhat duplicate the Intense W-body FWI, but im not going to order one because im afraid the filter would be much too large, theres really no way a 9 inch cone filter is going to fit in there...im thinking like a 5 or 6 inch round filter.
my first concern is finding somewhere to put the IAT, Intense sells this http://www.intense-racing.com/Mercha...tegory_Code=IF
i plan on going from the MAF outward, leaving the stock accordian tube, as id almost bet theres another screen before entering the TB..the MAF is at angle already, and i think if i flipped that around in the opposite direction shown in the pic it would be pointing almost straight to where i want to go, they also have straight ones, like the TB adapter used in this kit http://www.intense-racing.com/Mercha...tegory_Code=IF
id almost guarantee the IAT is the same one used in the Grand Prix so it would fit no problem..and with some Intense tubing it should all come together assuming i get the right size filter, another concern is maybe securing the filter somehow? im not sure how much movement the tubing would allow, but i dont want the filter jumping up and down when i hit bumps and whatnot.
does anyone know of something similar to one of those TB adapters? perhaps for a bit cheaper? 50 bucks is kinda pricey for that IMO...it would need to be about 3.5 inches...because thats what size tube fits into the MAF...do you think they would sell me one of the straight ones by itself?

well id have to buy a K&N filter for it, so theres probably at least 40 bucks which is fine i guess...but really there isnt anything to gut, there arent any baffles or anything..

Personally, I would chop the bottom tube so it doesn't focus the air so much in one spot, then build a regualar CAI box ontop of the stock bottom. I would then put a cone in the box and make some ducting to go out front.

well i decided that the homemade option i wanted was going to be only about 30 bucks or so less than the Tranzgenic...so i went ahead and bought the Tranzgenic, lets hope i dont end up regretting this financial decision later..
ever heard the song "Hicktown" by Jason Aldean? theres a line that says "if we got the money let it blow"
that pretty well describes me, as does the whole song.
thanks for the input, ill have pics when its here and installed, probably a week or two.
