That would have definately been some wild **** to go through. A tornado in the daytime is bad but,a hurricane at night is even worse. That is when you truly get a helpless feeling

I had the "fortune" to go through hurricane hugo when it came ashore in Charleston. It sounded really bad at night. I wonder what it would have been like during the day

Man, glad to hear everything is okay. On the bright side, now you have this awesome story to tell. Don't get too many tornadoes round here, no major ones in like 15 years.
I was in Mississippi after Katrina and saw a lot of the damage from the tornadoes that accompanied the Hurricane. Unfreakin believable.

Jwak, believe me when I say this. Staying at work was a worse idea. 1000+ objects weighing 1250lbs each flying around with absolutely NO form of protection, made making a break for it and trying to run 90* from it'* path was much better. The pre-fabbed walls wouldn't have stood. You're right about not running, however I was in a place with absolutely NO protection to speak of. Ditches are non-existent in that area as well.

Doug, can you post some pics of the storm damage? I would like to see what it looks like. Holly is in Muscatine for a few days, and says some of the damage looks pretty nasty. She forgot the digital camera, though :(

I doubt any of us Okies will forget where we were May 3rd 99. I had just left Wakita(where the last destruction scene of "Twister" was filmed) and was heading home back to Enid, tuned in Mike Morgan on the radio and listened in awe all the way home. By the way, I could see the top of that storm to my south the entire way.

Blackbird, there cannot be a more butterfly feeling in the gut to see something like that headed your way. Glad you made it thru OK.
