i thought id start a new thread, tell whats your favorite engine and why. ill go first, my favorite has to be the 3100 in my malibu. it has 185,600miles and dosent miss a beat, dosent burn or leak oil. normal mantinace has been keep up and has been driven hard but has never let me down. my cutlass was the same way with the same engine.

I will have to go with the Series 1 3800 on this one. Not only do they have low end torque to get the jump, but, when coupled with a 2.84 FDR, they will kick butt and take names in the fuel mileage race on the road, especially when modified.

Best of both worlds, stop light warrior, and road cruiser.

I very much like my S2 3800, a very strong engine. But I still like the 350 V8 A great engine with a lot of parts available.

The 3600 V6.

DOHC, Continuously Variable Valve Timing, Variable Intake Timing, Direct Fuel Injection, over 300hp naturally aspirated. Add boost and the sky is the limit, ask Jay Leno.

Chevrolet small block 350 V8 cant go wrong the LO5 models are super strong and reliable...But im kind of biast

3800 series. I can't pick a specific one.

The Series 1 3800 is stupid reliable and stupid easy to work on. Excellent first engine to learn on, and plenty of torque to be enjoyable. I regularly hit 28-30mpg highway with mine.

The Series 2 3800 is by far the easiest to make cheap and reliable power out of. You'd be hard pressed to find another engine that you can make as much power out of as reliably for as cheap.

I like the 2.2 & 2.5 dodge turbos.

My L36 will probably hit 200,000 miles by the end of the year, but it refuses to act its age, despite me abusing it from the driver'* seat, me abusing it under the hood, and Father Time occasionally beating it with a baseball bat. (Decent fuel economy, too.)

Of course, having driven it for five of the six years that I've had my driver'* license, I am certainly biased.

I Simply love the 454 big block. Just put one in and the car/truck is torque Sex

the 350 for power to weight, reliability, and a million ways to go fast for reasonable money
