I honestly cant believe my 15 (almost 16) year old car is really not rusty. Its got some cancer spots in odd places such as in the bay and in the door that i need to neutalize but other than that its not bad. The other day my car had a ton of salt on it so i got home and took a bucket of hot water and just dumped several bucketfulls onto it without scrubbing. I was suprised to see that it took all the salt off and it made it look clean too. I'm just worried about the underbody and nooks and cranny'* here and there i cant rinse off all the time.
Its definetly worth it to wash or at least rinse the car after snow.

Salt is why my car is terminal. Very bad rust under the side just behind the front wheels. My dad never cared that much about taking care of cars however. He is the one who thinks that washing the car in winter is stupid.
Of course its hard because they put so much salt on the roads that salt dust starts flying in the air and coats all over your car. >:(

You realize salt is inactive until its wet. If the conditions are dry and you have a layer of salt dust on your car, it will be fine. The moment it gets wet...that when the corrosive agents get going. I nice winter wax will help create a barrier between salt and metal and water will sheet it right off.
Really cold, dry days, I dont bother washing the car...its the milder slushy days that do the damage. :(
I just washed mine and the salt came off pretty easily...touchless in the winter

I just got the car washed the other day. They are starting with a new product as an option. It'* a surface protectant from Rain-X. It cost $2 more to have it included. I really like their windshield product, so I thought I'd give it a try. It looks pretty decent, although I'd like to see what it looks like in the sun but I may not see that until April.
Here'* one link that describes it.

I try not to think, it usually gets me into trouble
I try to wash my car every couple of weeks. We don't have salt/snow on the roads so my car stays pretty clean.
