The downside is that once you've done the easy bolt-on stuff to a diesel, changing bigger parts (heads, cams, turbo) is pretty pricey. A cam swap in a 3800 might take $500-$1000, whereas most diesel performance sites don't even sell cams for diesels. It would probably be many thousands of dollars to do any head or cam work on a modern diesel. Even head stud kits cost $500-$800.
Diesels have huge amount of flexibility right from the factory. It'* expensive to get extreme with them, but they can handle a TON of power through tuning and simple bolt-ons.
Great job, Nate! Those are AWESOME numbers! I bet that truck hauls some serious @ss!

I can only smoke REAL dark smoke if I can load it up BEFORE the turbo spools up.
Only reason they smoke is more fuel than air in the cylinders...
Hey Ben, I have the Diablosport Predator in my truck....I love it....Even get better mileage on it

this is compleatly stock except stuf like the ring went MIA and a K&N fipk smoth tube and cold air block off kit and the reason that you dont see a cam upgrade for diesels verry mutch is they dont rely on vacume atall the cam profiles are alreddy prety mutch maxed out to allow for the most air to get in to the cylinders thear is no blockages in the intake tract of a diesel no butterfly no flapper nothing that is why they dont build vac aswell and the fuel is how the rpm is maintained
just the way diesels love the tuener the gas car loves the cam so same dif just from a dif means
