Dude!! I got me a Dell!
As i mentioned, I received a decent bonus this year. Liz and I have been wanting to enter the 21st century with an updated computer at home. One that would handle toda'ys software, vidoe, pictures, music, and broadband. We decided on a laptop and decided that it would be our Christmas gift to ourselves.
I did a bunch of research and was equally impressed with the HP dv5000t and the Dell E1505. After shopping price heavily and thinking on it, I decided on the Dell. I would have slightly preferred the HP, but there was just too much price difference for me to justify. So I ordered it to meet my preferences last week.
Last night, when I got home, it had arrived.
Dude!! (BTW, that was my favorite Dell commercial series. I don't care if he did get caught introducing mother nature'* essence to his lungs.)

Unfortunately, the wireless broadband won't be ready until Saturday... :(

Yup! WooHoo!!
And there'll be a wireless connection for you when you stop by to visit.
Windows Vista ready, with 2G Ram, Dual Core Processor, 120Gb HD, 15.4" widescreen.
I'm lovin' it!

This and the HP I mentioned above get high marks from the various laptop rating sites. The Dell had a slighty slower speed index rating, but I considered the fact that I'm not exactly a power user at home anyway...at least not yet. I do most of my heavy work here at work on my desktop.

No broadband til saturday? Good..before they get there..clean that desk.
Then do your research on modems and routers to ensure you don't have to rent the companies outrageously priced unit.
