Default the dsc-p100 is wearing out

after taking over 12,000 pictures on it in a little over a year.. its just NOT the same as what it used to be...the exterior is beat to hell, the pop out lense is cracked, its full of grease, the videos dont stay focused and i have that smudge on all the pics even though the lense is clean... i dont want to get rid of it just yet cuz its a great party camera, but for the whorage i need something better

this is what i have my mind set on, just because i love sony cameras, and i could still use the same memory stick pro

and after seeing hans whorage with this 10x zoom, i NEED that

DSCH1, looks like they are going for about 300 on ebay

When I need zoom I use the 12X zoom of my SonyTRV-70

You old camera may be a great "party camera" but you pics of your car always come out great to me.

sir that was 3x zoom.....also a 4 year old $130 camera but I finally figured out how to use the settings properly

dscP100:

dsch1 -

c4000 (mine) -

I like mine, I dont shoot a lot of high res photos, the camera looks like crap over 1024x768 photos, at 1024 or 640 I like mine tho and thats what I mainly use it for. whereas the sonys look a lot better at the higher res for whatever reason.

either way I am on the lookout for a cheap sony p73 or something to carry around with me in the car, my olympus is too big and the lense cap does not stay on and I can see the lense getting scratched

it comes down to this:

Sony = easy as hell to use, no adjustments nessary to get a good looking picture.

Olympus = lots of settings to tweak with to get lighting and exposure settings correct. I usually have to take 3 photos to get one good one becuase each will have a different exposure setting, pick the best then delete the rest.

Canon = go for a rebel if you can afford it, they put just about everything to shame. note- see solsblog.com

That camera you posted in the first post is an awesome camera. That'* what I use in JROTC. The pictures come out unbelievable, but the controls are so annoying. To many buttons. I like my camera, I have a Kodak EasyShare CX6200. I think we paid $150 for it a couple years ago.

For the amount of photos you take in a year, you will need to get something a bit more rugged. Go with the SLR'* if you can afford it, they can handle many more shutter actuations than the point-n-shoots.

An inbetween solution is something like the Canon Powershot Pro. It takes nice photos and the physical camera is held up well.
