Honestly I dont know why this bothers me? My father is black and my mom is white but I often dont know which side of the fence I should be on. This has been a problem that has plagued me since I was a kid. I feel they should sue and any and all dollars go to a charity. People dont like being hit in the pocketbook. We have more closet racists than one might think. Are the people that defend what he said racist too? That I dont know but I do wonder if race plays a factor in what people really think.

I have heard of lawsuits for much less than this.

Petey (petraman), as I said before, the First amendment only goes so far. Racist remarks are highly frowned upon, and I am sure that if I was a member of that team, and was black, and he said that to me, I would definantly sue him too. It'* utter bullshit, and to the others that are backing him saying there was nothing wrong with it, are you saying that it'* ok for me to go out into the public and single out minorities and call them offensive names, believe me, I live in the Cleveland metro area, and if I went out and said offensive stuff such as what Imus said, I would be shot and killed for it. I am one of the least racist persons you will ever meet, and I take offense to anyone that calls a minority a derogatory name.

Maybe I don't know the whole story... From what I heard he said, it wasn't anything racist unless you wanted it to be.... Call me what you will, I don't much worry about it. Things become issues when people make them such. I'm done with this subject.
Shadow, it'* sad, but you're right. It'* a pity our system allows for these attrocities too.
*Edit* And saying that people who side with him might be racist is also a nasty blanket statement. That'* the same as saying anti-war citizens are anti-american....

Didn't mean to turn this into such an issue.
I'll say I am white and I am not racist. If I was African American, and he siad this about me, would I be offended. H*ll yeah.
Would I sue, no chance.
Remember, guys, I work for an Attorney.
The real legal issue is what are the actual damages.
I think he made himself look like a much bigger a$$ than he did any damage to anyone on the team.
He lost his job, and he should have.
But to me a law suit is just wrong.
Although I do like the charity idea.
