Does everyone here hate cops?

I wouldnt say I hate cops. But here is a story on why I've lost respect for them.
The night Super Troopers opened me and a friend were wondering what to do before the movie, so we went cruising. This big Chevy Z71 started to tailgate us and follow us around. So we took this really curvy road out to Mt. Kato, figured we'd check out ski equipment and find out what this buttheads problem was. He followed us all the way out and turned around back towards town when we parked. So after looking around we went back to town, and theres this idiot waiting with another car. That was that, we called the cops. They sent an unmarked squad car and pulled the truck over(the car must have seen the cop and turned off) and we waited at a gas station for another cop to ask us some questions. We get done telling him what was going on and guess what he says. "Cops arent here to baby sit the streets."
What do cops do then? The sure as hell don't bust the drug dealing neighbors!

I think a lot of the time, people just misunderstand them and why they do the things they do. I find that the more I learn about them, the more I like them. There are jerks out there certainly, but the majority get into the profession because they're the sheepdog type, you know, tending the "flock".
Thanks to everyone though for responding...I just wanted an idea of how you feel, and I think I have one (and it'* a lot better than the way I was beginning to think you felt).

T he cops here turn on their overhead lights (red) when they run through red lights. I thought sometimes that they do have somewhere to be. But it does make people lose respect for them when they see cops do this all the time. I'd say if it'* not an emergency they can wait 60 seconds for the green light. But that reminds me though of the cop that pulled me over and said I was on his a$$. He went through THREE red lights, but he definitely didn't have anywhere to go since he wasted my time with his attitude. :?
But cops should "baysit" the streets. Especially here. They don't do it enough, IMO.
My cousin got a ticket for going 27 in a 25!! That'* a bit unnecessary!

Wait, I almost forgot! You have to read this!!! This is one of the stories involving my friend that pissed me off.
My friend and I were driving in his car. He had to drop me off at work so he pulled to the side of the road. We talked for less than 30 seconds, then I left the car. As soon as he pulled away, this big a$$ black Chevy Suburban (or something like it) which was behind us on the side of the road, peeled off and turned on these strobe lights, and I had a feeling it was an undercover cop. He pulled up to the light. I thought nothing of it so I went inside. Come to find out it WAS an undercover cop. He pulled up next to my friend at the light, rolled down his window, and showed him a badge and said, "Next time get the F**K out of my way!!"
My friend said he was in his mid 20s probably. He was obviously upset when he dropped me off. We weren't in his way. My friend ignored him, but if that was me this guy did that to, I would have given him the !!! Undercover or not, they're not supposed to use their strobes like that. I would have given him the and drove off the other way. It may be a bit extreme to do to him, but that just pi$$ed me off hearing him say what happened! If he wanted to follow me and pull me over, whatever, but I doubt he would have.
My friend called and reported him and the person he talked to was pissed at the guy he used his strobes and swore like he did. Just amazes me some of the ****** that are out there.

NO!!!!!! She didn't even fight it. That'* crazy! I'm telling you, there are a lot of these kind of cops here! Even if she was going 27 in a 25, yes she was over the limit, but only by 2!
I probably would have argued saying I wasn't going 27, but I could even argue that 2mph over the limit is rediculous to get ticketed for anyway.

There are good cops and bad cops, and as some of you pointed out, they are only human. They have bad days and good days, but just because they are having a bad day doesn't mean they have the right to take it out on us.
My father is a police officer, has been for 35years. So I've grown up with police around all the time. I've found over the years that up here in Canada, my experience anyways, is that most of the time the RCMP are the more professional cops to deal with. The local guys sometimes don't even have to go through a 6 month course before they get a badge and a gun and are told to "go stop crime".
I used to have a red neon lp cover on the back of my car. I'd be pulled over almost every night for having "unauthorized lighting" on my Bonnie, by the local police. The law here states you can't have red lights on your car, except in the rear, and only if they are not flashing. So I was obeying the law, but the local police were just ignorant. They'd always let me off with a warning, partly because if they were to give me a ticket they would lose in court.
In metro Halifax, we are broken up into 4 main parts. Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford, Sackville. Sackville is the only one with RCMP, the other 3 are patrolled by Halifax PD. I live in Sackville, and have never, not once been pulled over for having a red neon LP.
Eventually I removed the lp, because I was tired of being hassled by the Halifax PD. I even phoned into the Halifax PD, to ask/explain about red neon lps. The officer I spoke to agreed with me that they were legal, but said that some officers were reading the law a different way. Whatever....
Some of you might be thinking that the Sackville RCMP didn't bother me because they knew me, maybe, but a lot of Nova Scotia is patrolled by RCMP, more then local poilce, and only one RCMP has ever pulled me over for the red lp, but I knew the officer, and he is a real dick. I was in rural part of NS, a part that normally doesn't see nice cars.
Anyways, thats my rant about police....
On a good note, I was coming up to a stop light that was red, but then it changed to green before I had to hit my brakes, so I drove through it. An idiot was coming from the street right beside me and made a right hand turn, into my lane, I had to swerve to avoid side swipping him. He didn't stop for his red light. Just as I could mutter "where'* the police when you need them" a RCMP cruiser was behind me with it'* lights on. I pulled to the side, the cruiser flew by, and got behind the guy that nearly T-Boned me, and pulled him over. Woo hoo
Also, another good note about police.... they were the ones who recovered shortstuf2124559@aol.com'* Bonnie. So give them another point for that one.

You know, I'm beginning to think it'* a regional thing. I have been other places where the cops are different from the way they are in NH. Florida for instance...the cops around here will wave back at you if you wave at them, with a smile; in FL they ignore you. Also, the townies here are very nice, and the staties are a little colder, but still professional and polite. Maybe it'* because they know us around here, but when we get pulled over, it'* practically a pleasant experience. The last time we got stopped for a light out, the cop walked up and said, "Hello". After a pause my husband asked, "would you like to see my liscence and registration? and the cop replied, "No, I know you" and gave us a smile.
Another time we got pulled over for (again) a light out, by a State Trooper. My husband was carrying a gun at the time and warned the cop that it was on his hip. The cop took it, but just unloaded it and handed it back after the technical stop was over. Then he sat on his hood, and my hubby sat on the trunk of our car, and they chatted about my husband'* interest in law enforcement for 15 minutes!
Are cops not like this in other areas...are they just more friendly here?
