The election, his VP, his secretary of defense, how he used a massive tragedy to boost his popularity ratings, foriegn policy, lacklustre approach to diction and proper grammar etc etc, oh how bout the Patriots Act, the constant delays in the 9/11 investigation, his shady business past, his blemished military career, and last but not least...the Terror Alert Scale!...how scared to we have to be today George?

Maybe if George held a meeting between the "election" and 9/11 something may have been avoided.
After all, it would be easier if it was a dictatorship eh? George?

Operational failures
The Sept. 11 commission'* final report outlined a series of mistakes that allowed the terrorists to carry out their plot.
• Failing to include hijackers Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi on a watch list. The two were linked by the CIA to al-Qaeda and were known to have entered the United States in the summer of 2001, but government agents lost track of them. The two would later board American Airlines Flight 77, which slammed into the Pentagon.
• Not sharing information linking individuals in the October, 2000, bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen to al-Mihdhar, who had contacts with a long-time FBI informant. The Cole attack killed 17 U.*. sailors.
• Not taking adequate steps in time to find Mr. al-Mihdhar and Mr. al-Hazmi in the United States.
• Not linking the August, 2001, arrest of Zacarias Moussaoui to the threat of an upcoming attack. Mr. Moussaoui was arrested after arousing suspicions at a Minnesota flight school. He has admitted belonging to al-Qaeda but denied he was part of the plot.
• Not discovering false statements on visa applications of some of the future hijackers.
• Not recognizing that some hijackers' passports were fraudulent.
• Failing to expand no-fly lists to include names from terrorist watch lists.
• Not searching airline passengers identified by a computer-based airline screening system known as the Computer-Assisted Passenger Pre-screening System.
• Not hardening aircraft cockpit doors or taking other measures to prepare for the possibility of suicide hijackings.

It all started with this News report in 2001, and seems like most Canadians jumped on the hatred bandwagon http://www.commondreams.org/headlines01/0405-03.htm
Contributing is the key word, no one forced them to do this, and since Bush ignored the UN, its not like the UN forced them either.
At least the new guy isnt as rude
http://www.csmonitor.com/2003/1210/p09s01-coop.html
Thats just messed up right there, not only were they blaming Bush, but talking it up. Is this still how some of Canadians feel about Americans? Truthfully I never even knew that you guys hated us until this post came out. Usually all I see is how another American lost his life and junk like that on the news. Kinda funny, the people who should really hate Bush, love him in Iraq.
I just want to show how the news can be used in both ways because no one has the facts strait.
In addition to its significant military contribution in Afghanistan, Canada is also contributing $250 million toward reconstruction and humanitarian assistance in 2003 and 2004. Canada'* new embassy in Kabul became operational on August 6, 2003.
Still, the change in leaders represents, if not a sea change in policy, then at least a change in style. Martin is mature and diplomatic, less fractious than Mr. Chrétien. But as he has had little opposition within or outside his party, he has not been required to say much regarding his beliefs. One thing he has said, though, is that improving US-Canada relations will be a priority.
Not that that should be difficult after the climate of overt hostility created by Chrétien. Under Chrétien'* leadership, a federal politician referred - publicly - to Americans as "bastards," and his communications director called President Bush a "moron." All to the obvious delight of many Canadians. Chrétien blamed Sept. 11 on Western - aka American - "greed" and his transport minister, David Collenette, publicly mourned the passing of the Soviet Union because there'd be no one around to check American "bullying."

That David Collenette story occured quite some time ago and his came out on the record to apologize to GWB and the American people after he made his comments and was quoted off the record. Its very true that Chretien/Bush didnt see eye to eye. The Liberal government here at the time raised a curious eyebrow at the whole 2000 election and its results. Since Chretien retired in 2002, and Paul Martin now runs a minority Liberal government he has made strides to improve US/CAN relations.
The alliance between US and Canada is the strongest I believe of almost any nation. We have the same goals so its pretty petty to get to upset about what some minister said or how he said some Canadians "feel". We don't call you infidels or the Great Satan and burn your flags in our streets or burn effigies of GWB
I firmly believe that a lot of Canadians dont like George and his adminstration, but you may say, well the American people voted for George, so if you hate George then you must hate America...but...George really didnt win...but he did :? but the majority didnt vote George, so we really do like most of you :P
Ramble off...
Canadians are still reeling from the American bombing of 12 CDN soldiers by Maj Harry Schmidt in Afganistan...he killed 4 soldiers and wounded 8 others. He got off scott free after an investigation found him totally at fault (well him and the communications officer) geez, if it was a squad of CF-18 CDN air force jets bombing 12 US soldiers in a known safe zone, we'd be branded as terroists.
At the end of the day, most of us will be watchin the election race in November very closely

i think your main beef is that harry schmidt bombing that killed or injured 3/4 of the entire canadian force in Afganistan. your leader has shown that he is a pompous ignorant *** over and over. he hated america long before the bush administration as well as the entire french canadian population. maybe its time for canadian leaders to get thier head out of there *** and think about someone else besides OH CANADA...

Nytro that really disappoints me.
We helped your cause in Afganistan, whatever that cause was. You sound like your justifying the bombing and passing it off as nothing. Please refrain from making such flagrant inaccurate claims. The Mulroney government, the Chretien government and now the Martin government has had very little disagreements with the US and its adminstration. You'll recall Brian Mulroney gave a speech at the state funeral of Ronald Reagan.
And please do not speak negatively of the Canadian war efforts, we are one of the higher spending nations in NATO when it comes to our own defense and historically Canadians have fought both valiantly and effectively.
Canadians spent a lot of time thinking and acting on a global scale, that is why we are respected globally, especially in the areas of foriegn aid (both in health care and economically).

Ignorance breeds hatered, every country has the right to mandate its own foreign policy including Canada and the United States.
Canada was in the 2nd world war before the U.*. (we were still a British colony back then).
I didnt read all 4 pages of this post before replying but felt compeled to after page 2.
Bill brought this up while having dinner one night and SilverBullets son confirmed that most of classmates did not like the U.*.
I'm glad I took my children down to Oregon to meet the fine people of the united states so they could see for them selfs that the crap we hear on the news is just that 'crap'.
You americans are a proud and beautiful people and I for one would stand to defend your great nation in your hour of need.

Yep, we did vote for George. It dont matter if Gore was "this" close or "that" close, a victory is a victory. Americans really have no beef with Canadians, or never did. Most of us like your land and think its pretty cool. Most of us have to worry about problems statewide such as crime, jobs and health and dont get to wrapped up on foreign affairs. Iraq has totally blown up on the news, I mean c'mon, the US has soldiers all over the world doing "stuff". Maybe it would help Canadians to stop greiving about the combat accident and moved on. I am sure a lot of citizens in Can, seem to think it was on purpose, and the guy was fined and his courtmartial was pending last time I heard anything. I highly doubt he is in the AirForce anymore, maybe as a mop guy, but that still does not serve justice to the lives that were taken. I know where your coming from Jim, and everyone is gratefull for our allies service, but why did your army go to Iraq if everyone hated Bush allready? Support? Support for a nation and president that was hated allready? I dont know...
I highly doubt Americans would of called the Can people terroists. Yea, we would of been mad and sad for a few, but it would of not carried on for years. If Kerry wins, that would screw a lot of stuff up here. I could see him pulling Everything out of Iraq in less than a year just to have the ratings jump up, but what justice would that do? Nothing except have the Iraqi people mad at us, and another terrorist attack of the WTB scale would almost be iminent. Did you know that Veterans of past wars hate Kerry with a passion? Just a little tid bit that was interesting. So, watch that on election day also.

i said that b/c thats like the 4th time you brought that up in this thread. what it sounds like to me is that you would like to see him tried for murder? I suppose he was looking for the canadian flag first before he flipped the switch? no, he had to make a split second decision in the dark on what he thought was the Taliban. If it was one of YOUR fighter jets killing an american i would be pretty sure he didnt do it on purpose either and show mercy for him too. Do you really think what has happened to him is getting off scott free?
I appreciate all that your country has done to support us in the war on terrorism, but it appears that maybe only your men in uniform are the ones that aren't against this terrorism movement or as you say, the bush adminstration.
from what ive seen from you so far Jim, you dissapoint me. it appears that the censorship of the news your government reports is working to their adavantage in getting you to hate the 'Bush" adminstation. only thing is its gone too far when the 'people' of your country say that not america but americans are evil, and in the same sentence admit that they would like to live here to use us to get rich. in the list of those negative things you list about bush, some false, what you dont list is the thousands of good things that he'* done.
Although you are trying to sound the global politician, i hear igorance. your views are TOTALLY one sided and its not worth the argument. which, if you cant take, then you shouldnt dish out.
Maybe when canada becomes a world leader and actually has the power to do some good for other countries on thier own, and when every little country calls YOU for help instead of the USA, and every eye in the world scrutinizes your decision to help or not to help, and hates you for it, half b/c you helped, the other b/c you didnt, you'll understand what is like to be an American.
its funny that cananda is NOT our major ally its the UK. Cananda doesnt like getting involved in other peoples affairs, (not saying they wont if there asked) they just like to judge them. just like france. its called isolationalism, once you can start thinking outside the box, then you'l understand global affairs and what it means to be America. unitl then you can continue to cast your stones, we have the best armor in the world.
I'm damn proud to be an american and damn proud to be a part of freeing millions of Iraq'* from a madman. we had the power to do it, unfortunately we're the only country with enough balls to make a move after 11 years of him non-complying to NATO resolutions.
Im sure there are many other people on this board that are thinking my exact thoughts but are afraid to say something b/c your the admin.
