Did you know PS2's use negative displacement cooling?

My PS2 is new and I dont want to void the warranty. Is there any sort of filtering media I could attach across the front grille to keep the dust out?

The PS2 only runs at 400Mhz correct?

If so, one could go nearly silent by using a heatsink / heatpipe setup. It'* proven successful on video cards for PC'*.

that would look good? No.

that would work? Yes, Scotch Brite Pads are the greatest build it yourself filter. Although they only trap larger particles, most of the nasty in my PS2 was in the Memory Card ports, the Controller prts and around the CD Tray. Those areas are hard to filter.... So, get a beer and think about it.

BTW, Scotch Brite Pads are for washing dishes i think.

heat sink/heat tube? what the heck is that? like half a tube over the CPU with a fan pulling air over it? I don't think there'd be room.... it'* pretty tight inside the case, but then again i've never had it truely apart, just down to the main assembly. I guess I'll pull it down, grab some pics, and look into this tube thing....

Heatpipes are new technology for computers that have liquid inside of it that transfers heat.

Yup laptops have used them for a while on a smaller scale, some new ones are radical. Like that 5.2ghz maching sol posted. My Dell D600 laptop has one.

oOoOo, an air conditioning system...... yeah..... you'd have to cut some stuff, but i bet i'd work, not worth it, but i'd work. the thing stays pretty cool with just the fan reversed, now now maybe if you had a lower pitch fan, that could do some good...

the newer versions have fans that are whisper quiet, see if you can get ahold of one.

My baby on my CPU (AthlonXP 2500+, running @ 3200+) with a 92mm fan... with the heatpipes on the sink.
