Dick'* Sporting Goodsl Ban'* selling paint balls to Kids.
Ok so dicks sporting goods made a Store rule that if your under 18 you can not buy paint balls.
I think this is good because a 14yo'* that we all know sometimes do dumb things, should not be able to buy something that can Hurt other humans and property.
Witch this has happened in Rochester and in my place where i live.
Someone Shot houses and Cars with paint balls. Yes it does wash off "IF" you get to it right away. but let it sit over night and it will stain things.
So heres the Questions. do you think kids should be able to go out and buy paint balls?
now mind you. this is not stopping anyone from buying them for the kids under 18yo.
But this is Stopping **** Brats from going into the store and then going out at night and shooting people are cars or what not.
Well "help" stop.
Also remember how Fast these things are going. 200+FPS
"can" Kill if hit in the right place. and on un protected sink.. Can be very bad.
Yes this may sound like im agents Paint Balls But im not. iv played and i like it. but i dont think 14yos should be able to go out and buy them just like they cant go buy a BB Gun.

I agree. They are dangerous, and can damage/hurt/ruin many things. I think the age limit of 18 is great, as many people anymore under 18 are still pretty immature and irresponsible, and have no respect for people'* propery or safety.

Hmmmm...interesting. Guess it is probably a good idea. I mean, if they are purchasing them for a legitimate reason, they shouldn't have a problem getting someone of a legal age to buy them for them.
I just sometimes question age restrictions, I certainly wasn't any wiser wehn I was 19 vs. 17, or maybe even 21. That'* just me though.
Still growing up I guess.

I don't think they should be allowed to buy them unless a parent signs a consent form. And if that kid does something stupid with them, the parents will be held responsible for it.

Kudos to Dick'*!
Only I don't think they went far enough. I think paint balls and related equipment (other than targets) should be restricted to those who are over 40. Most of the 40+ persons I know will give you a sportin' chance before they nail yer a$$ to the wall - nothing less than a count of three. And if you get your mailbox paintballed at night, you'll know it wasn't a random act of stupidity...you probably deserved it for doing something they didn't approve of - like wearing your pants down around your knees, or they don't like that fart pipe on your stupid '88 Accord. Furthermore, it would demand well-deserved respect for folks like Archon, ECHO SSEi, or PearlBonnie (oops, I hope I didn't let something out of the bag, Pearl). They're the old guys you need to have on your side if you want ammo for your contraband paintball gun, so you'll want them to like you. Treat 'em right and they might return the favor.
Yep, Badnit, I think you need to add one more choice to your poll - Restrict Paintball Equipment to 40 & Over. I think you'll find overwhelming support of this selection, especially when those who are younger than 40 realize the great wisdom in this proposition. Sometimes I even amaze myself with my abilty to clearly envision what is best course of action.

Well, I support it, but the grounds are shaky. Kids knock mailboxes off posts with baseball bats all of the time around here. Maybe they should ban the sale of baseball bats to anyone under the age of 25. Why 25? Because (I hate them but they are onto something) countless insurance companies did years and years of reading statistics to know that when you're 25, you might have a little more common sense and respect than when your 18. I know for a fact maturity doesn't happen magically at 18. I support raising the age to 25.

no it doesn;t happen magical at 18 but.. you are legal at 18 and the LAW can punish you more with out your mom or dad protecting you. so avg. kid will try not to do something illegal as much.

I like the over 40 idea. That way, irresponsible people under 40 (like BillBoost) will have to wait until sane responsible folks like, well, myself for instance are willing to help them get their paintball fix...
But seriously, folks....where does it really end then? I was allowed to buy my first .22 when I was 14. Then I shot and shot until I became a crack shot. And I NEVER ever did anything irresponsible with it for fear of a very sore backside.
OK, so I don't know exactly where I was going with this, but I do know that there is something fundamentaly wrong when it seems necessary to make all sorts of otherwise innocuous things illegal or restricted. That fundamental thing may be as simple as the fact that there are obviously too many people living too close together. But I'm not going to decide for you...
