You know, they do make surge protectors that also protect your phone lines as well. That might be a worth while investment while you're getting that new modem. My parents had that happen to them when i still lived at home. Once i put the phone line though the surge protector we never had any more trouble.

2794 / 735 (Kbps)
(341.1 / 89.7 KB/sec)
Compared to the average of 3978 tests from comcast.net:
* download is 60% worse, upload is 76% better

Of course, that'* on my laptop'* wireless connection......
