Just pulled this off on Nascar.com...
"With respect to my father, I don't feel very comfortable about that," he said. "He made that number what it is. With respect to him, I believe it belongs to him, you know what I mean? I never say never, and I've told you guys before that I was interested in doing that later in my career, and I still feel like that. I still feel that way. If that'* something Richard is interested in, we can explore that, but that'* a long way down the road."
That'* not to say Earnhardt still won't wind up driving for Childress, something that seemed more likely Saturday when Joe Gibbs Racing president J.D. Gibbs expressed evident unease at the prospect of adding an alcohol sponsor and expanding so rapidly to four cars -- but at the same time, not ruling out eventually talking with the driver. It'* easy to see Earnhardt signing with Childress and driving a red Budweiser car adorned with the No. 30, which RCR fielded years ago for Jeff Green, Jeff Burton and Steve Park.

I'm kind of disappointed that he'* sticking with the Chevy, as it pretty much rules out Petty Enterprises. That would be an interesting match-up. Petty really needs a big name driver in one of their cars, and Junior would bring a HUGE influx of cash and development money for the team. They wouldn't be very competitive for their first year, but after that, I can see them just dominating once they got the cars tested in.
My money'* on him starting his own team after a year or two at RCR.

Petty is the worst of the Dodge teams. They haven't won (or been even remotely in contention) a championship much less a race in how long?
BTW, Childress also has the 133 (33 on the track) that Kerry Earnhardt has driven on occasion in cup races.

I think that only lasted like 1 or 2 laps.
I would love to see Kyle win one though!
I still put my money on Jr. going out on his own..with Truex following him.

The last race Kyle Petty won was back in 1995.
I dunno about Jr. being an owner/driver. That'* a lesson Sr. instilled in him. It'* never worked in the past. Nobody that ever tried it became a contender.

It'* probably NOT a good idea. I am just saying that is what I read when he announced he is leaving DEI.
I get emails from different sources, like Jayski and such composed into a newsletter format, and one of the articles referred to JR. motor sports with him and Truex and Hendricks motors.

That rumor was total BS. Truex didn't even know Jr. was leaving DEI until the press conference. Nor would there have been time to work out a deal with Hendrick.

So, I missed most of the race. I did manage to see the end, finally a top 5 for Newman.
Anyways, any word on Jr? I Didn't see (hear) any but I am sure it was a major topic of conversation.

They replayed the entire Waltrip/Junior interview (that'* the only one he'* granted) and Waltrip commented on it from the booth.
No new news or rumors, but he did very well in the race considering the pressure he and the team are under. Spent much of the day lurking in the top 5 and fell to 8th in the last 20 laps (tires).
