This stuff should answer some questions......

Seen lots of issues with the Crown Vic Explodiong when hit from rear and randomly losing the steering system at high speeds.....hmmmm...And I know that the caprices are way roomier that the Crown Vics will ever be in the rear seat area.

Ummm, i beg differ on the slow thing...I got to drive a 1996 Crown Vic Interceptor last night with 137k and still running strong...the thing'* got POWER. It'd beat the crapola outta any bonneville we've ever owned (84, 89 SE, and 83 Brougham) NO CONTEST. It'* NOT a slow car, and it'* fun to play with

Wouldn't know about the backseat though, Mos, and neither do I wanna think about that

ah, I definately wouldn't call a car running 0-60 in a little under 9 seconds fast.

In fact, my mildly-modded Bonneville is more than a match for a 95 Thunderbird with the 4.6 (and 160,000 miles on it ).

Now if you get into the 4.6 DOHC motors, that'* a different story. That'* the motor they used in the Lincoln Mark VIII, and it pushes something closer to 300 ponies.
Right you are sir,... a toned down Cobra motor. W/ very few mods, you can turn into over 300 ponies very, very, quickly!

Sometimes it'* not the 0-60 that matters, it'* the 45 to 80

Custom: I think my car goes 0-60 in 8-9 seconds.... I think that'* pretty fast. Although 0-40 I could pull off in 3-4 seconds... but that 40-60 is killer slow.

1988-1991 SSE Bonnevilles are rated at 9.5 seconds. 1988-1991 non SSE Bonnevilles were rated at 10

After driving the riv for a week I couldnt' even stand to drive my old 88 LeSabre (identical to the Bonneville)... it was too slow! Going from 7.2 seconds to the lesabre'* 9.8 0-60 drove me nuts. couldn't stand to drive it. passing people felt like it took forever. and that'* when I decided to sell it.
