holy crap, how much a month is that connection if you don't mind me asking. I was looking at bumping up to the 1meg, according to the tech that came over to fix my connection one day its $99/mo.

It gets you better results, but not accurate ones. Most websites you visit will not be right next to you. I live right smack dab in the middle of the U.*., and if I do a speed test to, say, Austin, TX, it reads alot faster than I'm actually experiencing. I usually do the tests with Speakeasy to LA, or NY. By traversing many more routers and servers, it yields a much more accurate reading for experience...

They home connection (the first one) is cable, and we get it as part of the rent (we split the 80 dollar TV/Internet bill with the neighbours)

The last one I posted is from work, and they pay me about 15 an hour to use it.

This is what I got at home:

2003-12-28 19:42:42 EST: 34 / 14
Your download speed : 34227 bps, or 34 kbps.
A 4.1 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 14066 bps, or 14 kbps.
Your connection hardly qualified as broadband, at least in that test

Cable and DSL are not available where I live but 3 miles down the road it'* available.
