The only ones i hear making the noise are the FWD 4-speed'*, like the 41/42TE. Also knows as the A608.

That is the TRANSMISSION. ALL FWD Chrysler trannies do that when they downshift. All my old Chryslers that i've owned did this. So, when on the road I listen for it and EVERYONE does it. Even fairly new Chryslers make that sound. Live with it or get rid of it. There is no cure, they are junk no matter what.

I am sorry, but I still don't understand where people get that Chrysler trannies are junk. Only junk ones that I know of are pre 98. Anything newer is much much better build quality. I have yet to see hardly any 00+ Chrysler trannies have problems, and if they do, its a little $30 sensor. Some newer ones do make the noise. My Grandpas new 05 Ram however does not, but my uncles 02' Ram does. Wierd. I still would rather have my 99' Concorde any day over any Bonneville. Don't get me wrong, I love the Bonneville, but the build quality of this vehicle is something to question, Nickel and Diming me left and right. And I don't know of many Jeeps GC'* that make that noise either, only 1999'* and newer that have the 4.7L with the 5-speed.

The guy I work with has had many Chryslers over the years and his latest has been a 02 Caravan, after all the quality issues, electrical problems, and trans hiccups he said he would never buy another Chrysler and he was a diehard Mopar guy. Just some food for thought.
