Yup, that is very close to what I was gonna say, Don. There is actually a pipe that goes from one head to the other, it'* kinda odd, but completely eliminated coolant related LIM gaket failures finally.

Don, if the choice was mine, I'd probably be heading a different direction. I'll just get to work on it. I'll also have to see which engine she ends up with. The 3.5 and 3.9 are basically the same design, then?

Mark, I couldn't find anything about the Uplander at Carsurvey. I found some at eopinions. Ranged from I love it, to I hate it. A couple of concerns they had posted....

Cons: Electrical problems. No center console, only tray. Items dropped in back roll under drivers feet.
I've had the 2005 Uplander for a year. Seems like I have the electrical problem. The radio has been replaced because it intermittently stopped working or switched to radio while playing a CD.
Cons: Poorly manufactured engine components
My wife took a road trip in our 2005 Uplander. At just over 10,000 miles, the keyway to the cam shaft broke and trashed the engine, leaving her and my three children stranded along side the highway 10 hours away from home.
Pros: None
Cons: Just about everything
Nothing positive to say about this thing. I've owned mine for a couple of months now and it has already had (and still has) so many issues that it just makes me sick to think that I've traded my Venture in for this disaster. It just looks nicer than a Venture and that'* about it. For the rest the fit and finish and overall build quality of this vehicle is subpar by any standard.
Cons: Everything electrical that can go wrong has gone wrong!
We have had the Uplander for a full year and have not been pleased with it at all. We chose the Uplander over the Toyota because of always owning GM products. However, they have let us down on this one. Big Time. Multiple electrical problems such as the headlights flickering, the radio changing channels, the gas gauge not working, engine, abs, and traction control warning lights coming on and multiple trips to the dealer with no results.
I'd think the cam problem is unusual, but I don't know enough about the engine to know for sure. The electrical seems to be a recurring theme.

Edited to correct engine size of 3.4 to 3.5
