Can someone please explain this.........
2003 Bonneville SSEi 0-60 6.8s
2004 Bonneville GXP 0-60 6.8s
Ok so.....less fuel mileage, more power... same performance.......
Not to mention the L67 has twice the capability, thanks to it not having a 10:1+ comp ratio.....

Im asking, besides the fact of being able to say "your paying more in gas, your engine sounds better"
What the hell are the gains in this situation??

Actually, the Northstar engine has much more capacity for performance. There are custom built Caddy engines pushing out 1000 HP in street applications. You cant do that with a 3800 unless you have more money than brains. In either case, the tranny is the limiting factor in what you can accomplish.
As far as the "equal" performance, I can't answer that, I can only assume that the added power came will an increase in weight that cancelled out the short-term benefits. Or, perhaps, the test driver couldn't run the car through its proper paces.

Both the GXP and SSEi require premium, and they both perform the same 0-60 because of the extra weight from the GXP having a bigger engine and all, but the GXP uses the 32 valves to its advantage and performs better in the 1/4. The GXP is going to use more gas because it is a larger engine, but it also has a LOT more potential.
