Wow, you guys have hit the key points on this in almost every reply! I bet most of us have at least one tale of a similar work environment, co-worker from hell, etc.

I helped Eric draft an appropriate letter to management. It doesn't quote law, it speaks to the core issues, and I think it will be his best shot at keeping his job and ending is co-worker harrassment. (I still think he'll get fired on Monday.) I've instructed him not to "take down" people with him if he gets fired, and not to create problems, which will only serve to confirm that they made the right decision to fire him. I've instructed him to express his regret, shake the manager'* hand, and ask if his final paycheck will be mailed to him, or if he should pick it up in person.

In short, I know he'* only 17. But if you want to be treated like an adult, you have to act like one. I hope he gets to keep his job.

In other news, he got some great new silver torque-stars that look fabulous on his Bonneville!

Heres my 2 cents.
Stuff like this is going to keep happening over and over regardless of what legal action you take.
You gotta snap out of this emo self loating crap and fight back.
EVERYBODY has somehting wrong with them. It isn't not hard to figure out just think about it and call her out on it.
I remember there was this the clique of girls in H.*. They though they were perfect. But nobody is without flaws. Everyone else was too scared to say anything back when they would tease or pick on them. Those girls tried to play that game with me. I tore them up. And ya know what? They loved every minute of it. And they didn't make fun of me as much cause I wasn't afraid to say anything to them.
Just think about it. You can send all that crap right back in her face.
For instance
If shes making fun of you, tell her to stop flirting w/ you. She says anything back? 'well all you do is talk about me when I'm gone' she keeps talking? 'well thats not what so and so was saying' keeps talking? 'No. no seriously it'* ok. I won't make a big deal about it, I completely understand. You have to put up that front so people don't catch on that you like me.'
Whatever she says just act like its the dumbest thing you've ever heard and make fun of her back. Girls are waaaay self conscience.
Just don't get volger, sexual, or anything like that. Don't make any threats, don't act mad, nothing physical, etc.
Just stick up for yourself or this will be a horrible pattern.

well I didn't go through all the posts and well I have been in her place but the person who got me written up was a douchebag and well you could go with the angle of that it is neglegience on the managers part and ask to see his over manager and make a complaint and play their game that is all this is about to the girl it is nothing but a big game to her or you could play devils advocate and get a minitape recorder and record the convo she has with you and present that as proof of her words and actions and if there is a manager close and he or she doesn't do anything you can get them in trouble or just go through the channels and then go to the corparate headquarters and make a complaint just make sure you have proof that you went through everyone at the store. if you want pm and I will tell you more I have been on both sides so I understand it

Yes, it does

Didn't think about that.

I've told management personally in the offices that: "This girl is making fun of me continuously and ruining what little reputation I have" "So tell her to stop. If she doesn't come back." Two days later: "She still is talking." "We'll talk to her" Next week, still continuing. "I WANT SOMETHING DONE ABOUT THIS" "okay okay okay." Stops for a good week or two, then guess what? starts right back up on the day that she said I locked 'em up, and was doing 30-35. I'm figuring this out tomorrow. I've got a letter written up that'* slightly on the emotional side. It'll do the job hopefully.

I'm going to say "I will sue for libel and slander if this keeps up and nothing is done about it."

FYI, Slander and Libel are both very specific terms for different types of harmful lies. Slander is making accusations that are harmful to one'* reputation or business.
Libel is making false statments that could effect someone legally. It used to mean specifically in print, but now it'* pretty much any public forum.

She'* not really effecting your reputation, or saying you did something illegal. What she'* doing is simple verbal harassment, and you actually can do something about it. But you need to at least run it past a lawyer, and get documentation of some incidents if possible.



Venom, he was a little unclear about what he said. He meant to say that she accused him of roaring up, but that, in actuality, he didn't.
Also, sexual harassment is only a specific application of a much broader set of laws that cover workplace harassment. It covers everything from actual workplace rape, to just generally making somebody feel intimidated or unwelcome.

Keep us updated as it goes bro, just keep your cool so you don't give any fuel to her claims and you'll come out making her look like the *** she seems to be. I didn't notice in these posting if you had gone to her directly and asked her why she was doing all this, even to ask "Have I done anything to offend you, because you seem to hold a grudge against me. If I've insulted you in some way I apollogize, I hope we can work past it so we both can have a more enjoyable work enviroment".
Even if you KNOW you've done nothing wrong, this wayit can be seen that you've put forth an earnest effort to amend the situation. Then you can go back to wiping off finger prints and practicing your 911 call for when you "find" her in the dumpster.

If someone overhears her comments then she is definately slandering his good name. And her libel about the driving could cause him his job.
