He already used it on me on another thread tonight, so i used it on him, if you're looking at both, it'* saved in cache for a reason...

I would say...for your all around good camera...
Camera...extra batteries, flash card,etc,
Around the $500 mark is where you'll end up.
I own a Canon...few years old now....and love it...
I give my vote to the Canon.
But you need to look at a few things...
What do you like to take pictures of?
Indoors outdoors?
Are you in need of a user friendly camera?
Size.....very important....shirtpocket...pants pocket....coat pocket...duffle bag size

i would currently reccomand a cannon a80 or a G7 or G8(i think it is now) they are both GREAT cameras (i hae an a70, which is also good). I am partial to cannon but thats just my .02
