yeah that would be pretty cool to show up for a weekend meet. One day for the meet and the other day for the community service.
I was thinking that too. But really, like I said, would just be cool to get people involved wherever they are. But, all getting together to would be neat. Especially since I haven't been able to make it to a meet and I probably won't any time soon since I don't own a car at the moment.

LOL - would be cool to see 40 people show up for a 6 hr day... 300hrs all done!
That would be pretty cool too, but the wife and I have to do 150 by ourselves.

I would be interested in maybe even coming out to help you some time. I just moved back to Binghamton, NY so I would have to see what timing looks like, but if you made it a mini meet (where are the rochester/buffalo members) that would be even better. A place to crash for the night would help as well. I will see what works for me, but if august works, that would be a good time frame. If not, i'll see what is available around here.

I might be able to make it up there after the Buick gets out of the shop. I'll let you know.

Would love to do a meet weekend. Maybe a Friday night cruise, work Saturday during the day and who knows what on Saturday Eve. I'll check and see when there will be some car shows. Some Friday nights they close down the main street in town and have a show like 14 blocks ling. There are plenty of good photo sites around here.

Good on ya' tallbump.

Habitat is an awesome charity...the very definition of a "hand-up" instead of a "handout."

Until recently, my wife managed the San Diego Habitat for Humanity ReStore (the donated materials resale place willwren mentioned earlier). Also some of my coworkers and I donate time to Habitat to build housing in San Diego for hardworking people just trying to get a foothold in a very expensive housing market.

Thanks, yeah I really like the idea of how they work there program. Not just a handout, like you said. Good to hear you and your wife were so involved.

Well, last night I went to eh Habitat Office and signed all of the paper work ( 2 hours worth) to officially become a Habitat Family
Now the fun begins. We have to do 180 hours before work begins on our house.
Guess my Saturdays are shot for the next 2 years. It will be definitely worth it in the long run though.

Well, I am all for the help. If it is going to happen i need a 3-4 week notice to schedule it with them. They are very picky about it. Some Saturdays are not even available. The wife and I would spring for lunch on Sat and beer Saturday night. Only downside is we really don't have room to put anyone up. I would be willing to research lodging. There are several campgrounds in the area.
