I've been next to a few Miatas at red lights but never raced one from the stop. I'd like to race one. I'll hand someone'* a$$ to them no matter what they drive (almost), if they are willing to try and race me. You'd figure they'd have a good advantage weight-wise, but that measly hp/tq is nothin'.

I absolutely DESTROYED her. It was almost painful to watch the expression on her face in my mirrors.

Last wednesday, I went down drag racing with the Hawaii Miata club. Miatas are not known for their speed, but actually, it was pretty damn fun. A stock '91 will run the 1/4 mile in about 17 seconds. There was a 1.8L supercharged Miata from the club there too. So, we matched-up and I can proudly say I was the victor. I ran a 15.463 @ 92mph in the quartermile versus his 16.257 @ 83mph. He had me at the start, but I caught him before the 1/8 mile marker (him at 66.3mph / me at 75mph). And once that 10 psi built up, I was gone! Even earned me a "90 mph club" sticker from Hawaii raceway park. The Hawaii Miata President shot a little footage of the big race...
