Willwren is currently experiencing a crunch at work, Jr. had a death in his family and will be back in a week.
As for the buttons, they are an arming switch for his alcohol/water injection, and an activation ("on") switch for the same. He activates the injection system-but it doesn't inject H2O until he hits the other switch. This goes back some time.
