Most I have seen made it past the 200K mark... That goes for both the 302 and the 351...
Get the Vic
We just couldn't have FORD Boy without a Ford could we

If you're in the market for a $500 car, I'd say look for an '88 and up Chevy Corsica or Pontiac Grand Am. I personally bought an '88 Corsy with nearly 90K miles and put another 100K on it. I paid $350 and sold it for $350! No engine or trans trouble ever. I did put a fuel pump in and it needed steering rack and a heater core when I bought it. It was thrashed inside, but the AC worked until my wife crashed into the back of a truck. I pulled the front end out, and kept driving it... a little radiator stop-leak for the pinhole leak that came with the accident. It had the 2.8 V6. Absolutely bulletproof, and about 25 MPG no matter how you drive it.
My reservation on the Crown Vic is I've seen way too many of them (and Town Cars) around here in limo service blowing smoke all over the place.
The 3.0 Le Baron is not the strongest motor Chrysler ever made. The 3.3 and 3.8 engines in the Caravans, now there'* another bulletproof engine. Best years are '92 through '95. The trans however... Ugh! Drive it till it quits, then walk away. We replaced our '94 T&C recently with a 2001 Grand Caravan. The new motor is not as thrifty on fuel as the older van(!) and the trans was acting funny the first week we got it from the dealer. I did buy the extended service contract, and no doubt I'll need it.
I know... you only wanted 2c and here I gave you my $1.50

I agree with the Chevy Engines... Both the old 3.1 and 2.8 were war horses...
If he was looking at the newer Vic with the Modular 4.6 than I'd say no... I don't like the SOHC 4.6 V8 that was used in those... I have seen too many of them live a short life..
But the 5.0 Pushrod V8 thats in the 89 Vic was a good motor...
And Ford boy,
Are you sure thats a 5.0? Could it possibly be a 5.8?

I've driven a couple of LeBarons, and they were decent cars. But for the price, how you gonna pass on a police package??? That there says it'* built to handle more wear and tear the a LeBaron ever will
