Right on.

Getting promoted: I guess that'* a matter of choosing tasks with the right amount of visibility and doing them well. Can be done in a big corporation, can be done in a medium corporation. Not sure about a mom and pop organization... however I guess that if they treat you well then you are set there too!
You say that now until you're kicked to the curb like dried up dog $hit! There'* no loyalty to the employee at a large company.

Over time you'll see what I'm talking about.
I'm not disagreeing with you. That'* the risk you run wherever you work. Mom and pop, big corporation, or otherwise.

At least with a corporation you get some type of severance!!!! Mom and pop folds and you are done. If they aren't producing anything, doesn't matter how nice of a person you are or how much they like you. They aren't going to pay you.

I may be an exception. The place I work for was ranked the #1 company to work for in Metro Detroit, and the #12 best company to work for in the US (Forbes).

Yeah, I totally agree, and I've been their too. The kicker for me was the 1 day notice that "we are going out of business tomorrow, you'll have to find another job." Needless to say, didn't make me very happy.

Yea, he gets quite annoying. They started pushing his advertisments on this side of the state, so I hear him all the time, wherever I go. Very annoying.
