Do you think changing the center pin bolts (maybe for stronger ones) might be useful preventive maintenance if they are prone to failing?.

Ya, Dakota, at 6'6 and "comfy" frame you need a fullsize and then some. At 1 1/2 inches less than you, my Ram3500 is just coozy. Are you going to break it apart and see what failed, or just replace?

lol i always try my best to avoid injury.With a good wight rated good shape stong set of jack stands! LOL see im fortunate the leaf springs are on top of the ale so itll make it alot easier

the center pin holds the side gears in the carrier and there is only one bolt that holds the pin , its a special bolt / pin . do not try to use a 12 point wrench or socket on it , only a 6 point ........ , use a 8mm 6 point box end wrench or 6 point socket my best luck is with a wrench , I bought a Mac tools wrench it has some meat to it .If the bolt cames out brooken you will need a 2 jaw puller to push out the pin to sheer off the rest of the pin

i am not worried about all that becausse after all this time of searching i finally found one about an hour away for 200 bucks im going sunday after noon to pick it up..After the new one is in i will then tear into the old one and find the carnage YAY im once again happier than a tonrnader in steves trailer park
