I've got a nearly 3 year old iBook G4. I used it in school and still prefer it for work related things (graphic designer) but the crap thing is that at work I have to use a PC. I freeking hate all the crashing and windows problems....but sadly now the only thing I really use my Apple for is surfing the web and any hobby design I do outside of work.
My husband has an equally old HP laptop, and we really haven't had many problems with that either

Don't ever let a PC tech touch a Mac. They don't know chit. Most IT guys I know (a few that my company uses) won't even know how to troubleshoot simple problems on the graphic dept.'* Macs. Though it'* all understandable since they never use Macs.

I'm not an Apple person myself. Never learned them. and as much as people claim Windows is just a copy of the Mac OS, there'* enough different to keep me from it. And they are too proprietary. I prefer the "get it wherevery you want" idea of parts and software for the IBM based machines... (aka Windows machines)

Apply to the Mac life maginzine if your new to Macs or even long timer with Macs you learn sooooo much from that maginzine!
$300 for a mac mini wth? Where you get that at? Sweet deal.
Yeah I learned to just take it to the Mac store when I have problems PC techs will not touch my computer EVER. The reason I didnt do that was because I like 2 and half hours away from the closet apple store.
