Lounge For casual talk about things unrelated to General Motors. In other words, off-topic stuff. And anything else that does not fit Section Description.

Anyone else have to pay tax on their car's value each year?

Do you still have to get an annual inspection? Those are waste of time.
They've gone to inspections every two years, with emissions required in some counties, which includes mine unfortunately.
every 2 years.?

we get inspections every single year..

Same here on yearly on VA state inspections. We also have to do emissions test every 2 years.

Oh, and don't live and speed in VA, read this Virginia Introduces $3550 Speeding Ticket.

Funny how it only applies to VA residents

So in VA we get taxed, inspected and heavily fined

Yeah, used to be every year.

In the state of MD where I grew up, you only had your car inspected once: when you bought it

I don't know what happened with my speeding ticket, I got one on August 19th for going 58 in a 45 he and I only payed like $180 IIRC. That new law went into effect in June didn't it? One explanation I thought maybe that only happens when a State cop pulls you, I was pulled by Hampton'* Finest

I read in the paper probably a month ago our inspections were going to be changed to be required every other year, I don't know what happened to that...

I suppose then that $4.50 for a gallon of fuel is not bad if you don't have to pay $3,500 in tax for a $50,000 car.......or even $350 for a $5,000 car.

We do pay that much and it does suck but not as much as having to pay a one shot chunk of change every year on the value of your car. Do you know how much I would have paid over the last 30 years if that were the case.....

.....about $100,000.
