All Gave Some, Some Gave All
For those who don't realize it, it'* Veteran'* Day. Please remember the men and women who gave you the freedoms you enjoy...
I was that which others did not want to be.
I went where others feared to go, and did what others failed to do
I asked nothing from those who gave nothing and reluctantly
accepted the thought of eternal loneliness...should I fail.
I have seen the face of terror; felt the stinging cold of fear;
and enjoyed the sweet taste of a moment'* love.
I have cried, pained, and hoped...but most of all,
I have lived times others would say were best forgotten.
At least someday I will be able to say that I was proud
of what I was .... a soldier.

Called my Grandpa today to say "Happy Veteran'* Day". He served in WWII, stationed in Germany and had to play dead once while a **** field commander kicked his leg to see if he was alive... I'm sure he would have been killed if he would have moved or breathed at all. He must have some amazing stories, but doesn't talk about the war all that much.

If you want to learn more about his stories talk to him and ask about the good times he had. None of us really want to talk about the horrors of our military experience but the crazy times are worth remembering. One thing I do know if you do not talk to him about his time in the military now there will be no time to later on when he is called and you really wished you knew more.
I deeply regret not talking to my mom more about her WWII service when she was still with us.
My dad was at Anzio and does not talk about it all that much and for good reasons.
MOS95B: Nice post for today.

Happy Vets Day everybody.
My Grandfather served in WW2. My Uncle served as a U.*. Navy Seal in Vietnam. My Grandfather has since pasted away, i talked with him about it every now and then about it. He was an aeronautical mechanic (fixed up the planes). He could do a lot with a wrench, i think that is where i get my mechanic abilities. My uncle is still living, I don't talk to him that much but when i do i try to ask a few questions about Vietnam. He doesn't really like to talk much about it though.
