eventhough, i still deal with it, ive found the best results by only washing my face in my daily shower, and by drinking lots of water. water has probably helped the most.
but bottom line is that everyones skin is unique, and if you have insurance, see a pro.

i have a small acne problem too, i havent really tried much of a variety of products. ive pretty much used clearasil. which as don mentioned, is strong stuff, probably too strong. i use a combination of face wipes, a spot cream and a benzoyl peroxide. they seem to work but if i use all of them for too long it can start to get too dry.
my main problem is pretty much that im lazy and dont have the will power to use a bunch of different products. i dont suggest being lazy at all because it frankly sucks. you have to be commited to use the products every day. thats pretty much my main point.
i also think you should see a doctor
Cjcroel, when do you get that natures cure stuff?

i had been on accutane myself... i had really terrible acne, and it worked amazingly... and they do periodic blood tests to make sure that your liver is working properly, so you are monitored for side affects. I had no side affects other than really dry lips.. the worst part about it for me was the price

I've been blessed with good skin but I would recommend the pro active like others have mentioned. I have a friend that used it and it worked for them. I use to wash my face with Noxema and then recently changed to another line of skincare since I'm getting older and want to keep the wrinkles away.
Keep us posted as to which way you go with it.

Treatment can vary depending on a number of factors. I would suggest that you consider asking for a referral to a dermatologist, if your acne is severe. While it is true that Accutane can have some less than desirable side effects, I don't believe it'* fair to make a blanket statement that it not be considered. Side effects of any medication can vary from one individual to another. There have been bad results from Accutane, but there have also been many positive results. Since this is a prescribed medication anyway, this should be a decision between you and your physician. As mentioned in an earlier post, you can expect bloodwork prior to starting to assess liver function if this is the route determined to be best.
Tetracycline is another medication which has been used a lot in the past, often with marginal results. This needs to be taken multiple times per day and has to be coordinated with food as it must be taken on an empty stomach.
Also consider that your lifestyle plays a role here as well. Getting enough sleep every night is important, along with other factors relating to general good health (stay active, eat healthy). I seem to recall you mentioning sometime in the past that you enjoy the large, economy size bags of M&M'* from Wal-Mart. You may want to curtail this a little.
Good face washes/gentle cleansers are a good adjunct as well. Whatever you use, don't expect overnight results. Don't get discouraged, stay the course and hopefully you'll see positive results.
