If you want cheap and reliable, it would be worth it to look for an import

Expert Gearhead
buy a scooter before you buy that.
I've seen tons of the quad'* with cracked heads around here. Usually misdiagnosed as a head gasket and when replaced...problem still exists.

Yeah, idk what to do. I have no money (I'd have to loan money from my parents for this car), I can't wait for a tranny repair, let alone, I have no clue how much it will cost, and I need to get to my job. idk...

Those are awesome. 190hp 5 speed and only 2500lbs. They run mid low 15s @ around 90mph. Most advanced 4 cylinder of its time. Unfortunitly, they are not reliable, at least the regular Quad 4s are. IDK about the HO version in this car but i'm assuming its the same.

Another option is to find an early- to mid-nineties MOPAR with the 3.0L V6. It'* a Mitsu motor, but it was basically MOPAR'* equivalent of the GM 3800. They went in just about every car MOPAR made, plus some Hyundais and Mitsus got different versions of it. It'* also extremely reliable.
Best bet for you is probably the Shadow, Duster, Spirit, or Daytona. Or any of the minivans.
The Spirit is your best bet here.
Avoid the Acclaim. Even though it'* exactly the same car as the Spirit, it had some issues with quality. Prevailing theory is that this has to do with manufacturing schedules. The Spirit was assembled during the afternoon/evening, when people are normally at their most alert. The Acclaim was assembled on the graveyard shift, when people are tired and distracted.
If you get a Shadow, Duster, or Sundance, make sure to get down and check for rust where the E-brake cable comes through the floor below the driver'* dead-pedal.

Well, we'll see. I just changed the fluid/filter so we'll see how long the tranny lasts. At least it'* getting me places. I'm really getting sick of this car.

Watch the mit 3.0 for valve guide seal leakage. That or the exh valve guides slip. Both problems cause oil burning and failed emissions. Just did the seals on my van and it was a pita.
