'68 Cutlass Seat Belts...
All--
I've located a '68 Cutlass Coupe I'm interested in and am wondering if this year had shoulder betls. I'm going to see it Saturday and am just curious. If it does, I'm sure it'* the style that hangs from the headliner. Gotta love those.
Thanks.

That'* kind of what I'm figuring--might have been an option. It won't sway my decision any but I wouldn't mind having shoulder belts in it. We'll see Saturday.

I'm thinking it was an option, not standard. I know my convertible doesn't have shoulder belts, but I know someone with a '68 convertible that has shoulder belts that actually are mounted by the rear seat. If it does have them, yes they would store in a clip mounted in the roof. If it doesn't have them, it may not be hard to put them in. I was just looking at Year One'* site, and you can get aftermarket belts color matched that are like the late model should/lap belt style.
Go check out www.realoldspower.com. A great site where you can get just about any question answered. www.oldspower.com is another good site, though more geared towards the G bodies (80'*).

Nice looking '68 Grimm. What kind of tranny does it have? I'm trying to find out some information on the 2-spd automatic Jetaway transmissions. That'* what the car I'm looking at has. I'm curious as to their "pep."

...also, how would I find out the rear-end ratio? Code on the differential? With a 2-spd and high ratio, it may be a dog.
Thanks.
Thanks.

If it had the shoulder belts..they probably would have clips to hook or unhook then..and they might normally attach to the roof and stay up there unless you chose them specifically.

If you have any other questions, let me know. I have a CD that has the service manual, Fisher Body manual, and some other information.

Excellent. It'* a number'* matching car. 350 Rocket 2V with the Jetaway tranny. So, right rear axle shaft on the back for the code you say? I'm not looking for a tire-burner per say but some decent pep would be nice to go along with a nice exhaust note.
Thanks.
Thanks.
