I choose 2, but the equation is using bad notation. This is a case where both are correct, and both are wrong. It will depend on who you ask.

Actually no, it'* also 288. The equation is assuming, instead of a black and white. * takes precidence over /. A proper equation should not leave out a task. By doing so you introduce errors. Look it up. Both answers are correct.

Multiplication and division are categorized together and separated from addition and subtraction, subtraction simply being the addition of a negative number. Technically division is only multiplication of a fraction. 4/5 = 4 x1/5.

You always solve the equation inside parentheses first.

The correct answer is 2.

Resolve brackets first to get 48/2 (12)

Then division on the left: 24 (12)

Therefore 24*12 = 288

BODMAS is the order of operations:
B Brackets first
O Orders (ie Powers and Square Roots, etc.)
DM Division and Multiplication (left-to-right)
AS Addition and Subtraction (left-to-right)

Depend on how the question is written.
48/2(9+3) yeilds 2
48/2*(9+3) yields 288
So without the implied multiplication the order of operations seems to be affected.
