just checkin. vids would be helpful IMO. i can tell the whole world that my neighbors bravada is a slow dog, but compared to the SHO, it is, even though it is running fine. just like the temp issue. it is running within normal parameters, yet you feel it is too hot. it all comes down to perspective.

both of my cars have 195 they seems to pretty much run at 195 unless stopped in traffic the cavailer will get up to about 220 then fan will turn on and come back 195. My bonnieville I almost never see past 200 mark the only time I have seen it past that mark is when I was playing with the air in my drive way. I would change the t-stat see if that makes happy maybe go with cooler one.

There has to be an issue here somewhere... My cousin had a Jimmy, with that 4300, and it to rant about 200F ( I didn't care for that temp ) But it had plenty of torque, and was happy to get up to speed.... I believe it was a 195 Hp and 255-260ft lbs from that 4300... They never had a problem with it....

I believe our 99 blazer with the 4.3 vortec ran at 210. Gauge never varied, but just sat at 210. Never felt sluggish to me, but it never really felt right to me. My guess was the throttle. I think it was computerized. So you would step on it, and there was a delay, maybe 1/4 second or so...just felt weird to me.

My Bravada'* temp gauge gets to about 1/8th inch from straight up (straight up is 210), so right around 195-200 and just stays there no matter what the situation. The two things I would check first are already suggested, t-stat & fan clutch.
If you are going to do the t-stat, might as well do a rad flush and refill with the green stuff. Flush it GOOD with a longer run time (couple of hours) radiator flush, then drain it. Fill back up with 100% water and a quick flush (15 minute), then drain it again. And finally fill back up with 50/50 mix of the green stuff. I'll be doing this to my Bravada sometime this summer.
Good Luck - oh and if it is still covered under any kind of factory warranty, contact the dealer first and foremost!
