Get to know the girl first, TALK to her, or just hang out with her and her friends and focus on her a bit more. You might find out you don't like her anyways by getting to know her first a little bit.

Should I try to sweep her off her feet or play it cool and befriend her? I just don't know where to start, haha; I've never been in a place like this where I don't know half the people here.

If and when you see her with her friends, make some eye contact and nod your head as to say hello. Then once you get the eye contact down and she starts to recognize you, then you introduce yourself to her and so on.......Cmon stud, you know how its done!!

No games. Just walk up to her with your boys a-clankin' like you know what you're doin', and ask her out. Don't fret about trying to get her alone to ask her. She'll either be flattered and say OK, or she'll let you down easy and tell you she'* sorry but she just decided to go gay. If she mocks you she'* not the girl you want to be with anyway, so move on.
Dang, that'* easy for me to say. Now go do it.
I had a friend in college that would walk up to a girl and ask her if she was willing to bear his children. If he could still walk after this he knew she was a "keeper" (his words). Frankly, I don't recommend this technique.

Well, from the female'* point of view...
You obviously need to get the balls to talk to her, but once you do, act like you're shy because girls are flattered if they can see that a guy is nervous around them. It'* cute. Cuteness will take you anywhere. Keep in mind that you have to be confident in your head though, or else you won't actually talk to her, haha. It'* a front.

The "friend" thing can be very dangerous. It can be hard to get out of the friend zone because she will be afraid that if the relationship doesn't work, she'll lose a friend. Don't get me wrong, my wife is my best friend, but you have to be VERY careful you don't get put into the friend category too early. I beleive that generally a woman will decide if she will date you the first time she meets you. IMO.

I agree... if you don't walk on over and say hi.. ask her on a date... (which is nothing more than an interview to future relationship) then the outcome is already known and you may as well stay home playing Xbox with Pinky.
