Just got a 1978 bonnevile :)
Hello boneville enthuisiests
i just recently picked up a semi clean 1978 bonnevile for free99 from a nun who passed away.
i saw the car parked at a church and noticed it hadnt moved with expired tags and cobwebs in the wheel wells so i left a note.
i returned to see if the not e had been seen and wa sinformed the car was owned by a nun who had past a few days earlier. A few answering machine messages later i got a returned call from the executer of her property and let me have it towed away.
got the keys a few days later and it runs. but the tow truck driver took a cotter pin from the transmission to manually put it in neutreul now i cant figure out where it came from. to see if it can drive.
discovered in the trunk wa sa bunch of empty quarts of oil and tranny fluid so that cant be good lol.
anyhow here she is in the condition i got her last week
and here she is after 15 minutes of some buffing
plans for it is to get the motor and trans in good operating condition some metalic brown paint and some 22'* that'll be next summer the more recent plans are get her runnign good and polsih the hell out of the stock hubs.

Welcome to the club. As for the cotter pin it goes on the shifter linkage. That is located on the tranny about half way back on the driver side. There will be a rod and a setup that rachets for the gears. Hope that helps.

Your best bet is to start a new thread in the Classics forum to get your cotter pin question answered. You'll get the most response there since not all the Gearheads read the Introduction Forum.
