I'm Ben and hoping to find some real help regarding water pouring into the car every time it rain, soaking the all the carpet and possibly causing my air bag system to malfunction.

I removed the passenger seat and propped up the carpet and squeezed all the water out of the foam and let it dry. If it rained or you poured water down the windshield on the passenger side, you could see water running down from behind this black thin rubber like material into the cabin. Water also pours out the flap onto the ground behind the wheel like it'* supposed to. I took it to a glass/windshield outfit and they took the cowl off and looked down in the an could see a pretty major crack or deterioration between like the fender and the body of the car and figured that was how the water was getting in. Anyway, they shot a fair amount of Butyl down along the crack and smoothed it out all out. Thus far it hasn't leaked again on the right side. I did the same thing on the right side, or what I thought was a decent job. Since I have to drive the car pretty much every day, I haven't been able to remove the drivers seat, pull the carpet back and squeeze as much water out of it and let it dry and then pour some water down the hatch to see if my efforts worked or not.

Since it got soaked, the air bag problem light has come on and stays on, so my main question regarding that, if the air bag sensor under the passenger seat gets soaked, even though it seems like it is sealed pretty good, is it pretty much automatic that it is hosed and I need to buy another one and is it an OEM only part? I put the PN on the sensor into gmpartsonline and it finds nothing, so I'm not sure if I'm looking for the right unit or not.

Any help would be appreciated!!
