Could use some advice
Hi Everyone,
In June I bought a certified pre-owned 2010 Silverado 4x4 LTZ. I love it!! It came with aftermarket running boards and an aftermarket radio/CD player/Nav System. I took it in for an oil change/tire rotation and I also let the dealership know that the chrome tube running (step) boards were rusting badly at the joints. I was told that since they were aftermarket then the bumpertobumper warranty does not apply. I can see the warranty not covering if I had added these after market parts after purchasing the truck, but I bought the ruck certified pre-owned from a GM dealer with these parts installed. Not worried so much about the running boards since I an clean them up, but I am worried about the radio/nav system and what would happen if it would ever go bad. Appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Thanks for all of th replies.
The radio is a Pioneer which again, works fine now , but concerned about if breaks before the B2B warranty expires. Pioneer provided the standard 1 year limited warranty and we are past that. Bugs the crap out of me that the dealer sells truck hard bragging about the certified vehicle B2B warranty and then side steps whenever the opportunity arises.

I can almost guarantee you that the dealership isn't going to cover your aftermarket radio, you would need to get an additional warranty from a shop that installs them for that, and typically it must be from the shop that installed it. If it was installed by the owner they typically won't warranty it.
But on a positive note, that'* a good mainstream brand and unless the installer did a shotty job, it should be more reliable than the factory radio.

Welcome to the forum!
X2 on what Tommy said..if it wasn't installed by a GM dealer and isn't a GM part, more than likely they will not cover it under warranty. That'* just one of the risks you take when you have aftermarket parts.

Welcome to the GMForum. While it may seem small what the Dealer is saying, it'* always been that way with any Brands Used Certified Vehicle Warranties. They exclude any aftermarket/non "Fill in the Brand" parts/accessories.
