Tow/ Haul quit working 2000 GMC Sierra / Chevrolet Silverado
Tow/Haul quit working in the Sierra, looks like the wire running up the stalk split in half.
Soldered on a short extension and reconnected the wires. All good now.

Do you think its from the constant tilting of the steering wheel?

Yes, very common complaint. Wasn't hard for me to find the issue with a quick internet search.
It looks like with the shifter down in the "1" position the wire is almost bent in half because of the way they route it. Once that wire is 13 years old and starts to brittle up it can't take that kind of pressure. What I saw when I opened up the column was just one spot on the wire clearly cracked and one wire disconnected. It wasn't actually a clean cut, the first picture is from where I had already snipped it and started to remove the sheathing around the two VERY small wires. I recommend stripping the wires with a lighter.
