I have had many GM vehicles in my time. I’m on what will most likely be the last one. The transmission issue is too much. Shouldn’t have issues like this from a company that has been making vehicles for over 100 years.
my Sierra 1500 5.3 litre with 6 speed tranny was 12 weeks outside the warranty but if you went by mileage I still had just over 30,000 kms left to the warranty. They offered me what equals nothing given that I could go to a world renowned transmission shop from r less money. The kicker, only a couple months prior to the warranty time I had my truck in for a transmission issue. I have taken care of my truck as a baby. I have had many issues with this truck.....steering, A/C, suspension work, stereo system had to be replaced 3 times and the 4th time I put an aftermarket stereo in it. Then there was exhaust issues, electrical issues, fuel injectors and the latest was the $5000 transmission. All these issues plus other small things I didn’t list on a 2015 Sierra 1500 SLE with only 129,000 kms. I stuck it out with the truck because I loved the ride and the looks. Now after tens of thousands of dollars in non warranty work, I’m forced to cut my losses and move on to a new vehicle.
there’* lawsuits I see in regards to the 8 speed transmission but there’* just as mount issues with the 6 speed. Why is the 6 speed part of this lawsuit?
any comments about this issue is appreciated.

Sorry to hear about all of the issues.
What problem did the transmission have before the warranty ran out?
What problem did the transmission have when it had to be replaced?

I definitely would not have had GM attempt to repair my transmission when they couldn't find a fix since 2015. GM would never get another dime from me. You should of gotten your transmission fixed from a competent transmission company. I found a repair shop who works on these transmissions and have fixed the issues the 8 speed was having.
The problem is GM knows what it will take to fix the issue but refuse to actually foot the bill. The amount of software updates and updated fluid just to get you past your warranty is sneaking and bad business practice to the point it'* criminal. My truck had so much power and torque when purchased but the updates brought it down to garbage and still didn't fix the issue. I am not at 100k yet on my 2015 but when/if it gets there I'm getting rid of it. The wife loves the car since it'* hers and it'* the only reason why I still have it.
Eight shop visits for the transmission and I've been lucky since the only money I've had to spend was for the temp sensor around 70k and a fluid changes. I replaced the sensor myself because I refuse to give GM any more of my money. Now I'm hearing about the dreaded AFM problem. This is definitely my last GMC.

I did go to a transmission shop. I’m lucky I live about 45 minutes away from a well known transmission shop across the world. He created a fix for dodge rams transmission issues. Rick Roodes is the shop. He’* a transmission guru. He’* doing a minimum of 3 per week just in the 6 speed. I’m thinking I’m going to cut my losses on my truck. Wife wants another suv or van. I think I’m done with domestic vehicles, I’m going foreign. FYI-my transmission guy welcomes phone calls from around the world if anyone has questions.

From a PM, placed here for everyone'* benefit:
Regardless of manufacturer, this is the point where the issue should be displayed with the owner and representative of the dealership in the car. If the representative says "that'* normal", this is where the owner can escalate the issue. My personal preference is "Really? Please show me another one that does this."
Glad you got it fixed, sorry it was at your expense.
