2017 Eassisst Silverado Gear options?
I recently bought a 2017 Chevy Silverado CrewCab with the 5.3L Eassisst package which comes with a 8spd transmission and 3.08 rear gear ratio. Does anyone know if there are any issues in changing the gear ratio in this model? I know they don't offer any other gear option from the factory, so does that mean it'* not possible?
I am about to buy a 5th wheel trailer around 9500lbs and i wanted to switch to the 3.73 gears for better towing, even considering buying the whole 9.76 max trailering axle assembly and selling the 3.08 axle if it is possible. Thanks

Ok, but because the truck is so new, I would be concerned about warranty. On a different note, you will need to have your ECU and Trans ECU reprogrammed to reflect the new gear ratio. (different shift points now)
I'll wait for others to chime in about the actual part itself.

Not sure if yours is a Double Cab Standard Box 2WD, but I'm pretty sure you don't have the Max Trailering Package. So I looked it up at: http://www.chevrolet.com/content/dam...500-012617.pdf
. . . and you are rated for 9,300 pounds since you have the EcoTec3 5.3L V8 and 8-speed automatic. Based on this you'd start out 200 pounds overloaded then add people and stuff and a big gulp and you are way over.
Ironically if you didn't have the 8-speed automatic you'd be rated for 9,800 pounds. I suspect this is because the 6-speed it tried and true even in moving vans and buses and the like. My suggestion: slightly smaller trailer and a large auxiliary transmission cooler.
