The Hyundia 2.0L DOHC 4 banger in the "big" family sized Sonata is a slow setup.

I owned a brand new 89 Hyundai (back in 88 when I got back from Korea). They are good little cars. Very reliable. Not bad for comfort. Not even close to being a race car, even with 15 years of tech advancement.
