well, its not like i have a choice anyhow, since im upsidedown on the loan(due to the 4,500 dolla remainder from my firebird i traded in), but im keeping it. i drive almost all highway to work, and im getting 25mpg even with an overdrive poolie and an engine problem of some sort....alot better than my firebird with 4.10 gears did(the 6 speed helped some).

I bought the Bonne when I decided that 13 mpg on a good day just wasn't enough in my 86 GN. The bonne gets me 19.5, so it is better. I still hate to fill the tank, and I drive the bare minimum I can already. Add to that, I can't afford to replace it. Plus, any car worth having wouldn't get me much more than the 19.5 I'm already getting. If I could, I'd drive a Tesla, but that'* way out of my price range.

do the math, save elsewhere
I've said it before... Figure what you're paying in gas this week compared to 2 years ago, take that difference, assuming nothing else has changed significantly in your life (like miles driven) and most of us have had some kind of pay raise in the last years, and you'll see that you are NOT putting that much more money in your tank. Then, figure how much you're gonna spend on a new-used car getting you maybe 5 - 10 MPG'* better, do that math, and it will NEVER add up. Then figure what else you can cut out of your weekly budget, like smokes and beer, and you will more than make up the difference, plus improve your health. Got guys in the factory, moaning all the time, but between them and their spouses, burning up 4 packs of cigs a day.. good God, that'* 20 bucks per day!!!! Do that math, and you're at 600 bucks a month!! Good Freakin' God!
Hey, we all waste money.. There'* no need for me to be restoring a Bonneville.. but goodness gracious if you are having trouble putting gas in your tank, maybe forget about putting that $200.00 mod in your car... I mean, do you really need a high-flow cat, especially when you should be laying off the gas a little bit to try to save? I just love to hear guys complain about how hard life is when they won't take the needed steps within their own household to improve their situation.. Always waiting for the government to fix things for them. Big government... last thing we need.
Oh, by the way, if you haven't already figured it out, I'm keeping my Olds eighty eight and my bonneville. And my minivan. and I don't smoke, so I can fill the tanks. Mike

Where'* the "I already own a 4 cyl and I am getting rid of my bonneville for a downpayment on a house" option? Otherwise, I'm in the "Pry it from my cold dead hands" group.

Well said. I would love to buy mods or anything else for that matter but I can't because I have to prioritize.
