Another thing is, Europe and Japan go for one major thing over performance ... that is handling. They make cars that can do 4-wheel drifts all day long, and handle like a Porsche. That is another reason why the mags go for them. American cars don't handle to great, but that is ok. We don't require a car that can drift.
We just want a car with a lot of grunt.

American cars have headroom for upgrades. 3800'* are in the 6-700 HP range now, withouth nitrous, or DOHC, or crazy RPMS.
Plastic dashes? Sometimes GM dashses can look kinda bad, but this is more of an excuse by magazines. I mean, what are you gonna do with a leather dash? You breathe on it and it changes color. It'* too soft to mount anything too, and it'* not like you're feeling the dash everytime you go in... :?
RWD revolution!??! Cmon!! GM is one of the biggest people!!! The Bonnie is till FWD because this isn't a new platform or body. The next one should be, along with many of their cars. The freaking FWD revolution in the 80'* was brought on by Japan. Those effers...
Mash the loud pedal in any American car, (not a geo, that'* a corolla copy) and then mash the same pedal in a japanese car. You get NO TORQUE at all in the japanese car. (save extreme examples).
Pushrods are bad? The new Z06 engine next year will have 3 vavles per cylinder, all pushrods
Who needs DOHC, it'* more parasitic drag on an engine. I don't want a second "hot" cam to kick in @ 4000 RPM, i want power all the time, off the light, on the freeway.
Most European cars are cool though

I'm perfectly satisfied with my car. I went out with a choice and it was a Bonneville. I would buy a Bonneville again. Sure I like the BMW 540'*. But they cost $20k more to get that extra HP. As for the Japaneese imports, I'm not too impressed with them. They're okay, but don't give me the awe factor like my blue beast!
What I like about our Bonne'* is that they are a mix. It'* a sports/luxury car. A good combination if you ask me. Fast and roomy. Also they LOOK BAD(as in cool)!

Also, has anyone ever tried working on a DOHC car? Replace the timing belt/chain on those? It'* crazy work. In an 'old fashioned' pushrod engine, anybody can work on them (within reason).

Plus a lot of European and Jap cars are to small for a guy my size. I like to roll 4 or 5 deep sometimes and I need a car with a strong body, and that still can support whatever I have in the trunk. Germany is not ahead of the US in technology. Trust me, I lived over there for 6 years. Their cars are really plain and boring. It is the US market that puts all the cool stuff in the BMW'* and Mercedes, like navigation, great wheels, AC, power windows, automatic transmission. BMW in germany is like a Chevy over here, there nice cars, but not a show stopper. As on the other hand, Chevy'* and Ford'* over there are the same if not more than Benz'* and Beamers.

I myself find GM interiors to be quite el-cheapo, especially on my car - I have no problems with plastic, but c'mon, when I poke my fake wood, it *squeaks*, and the panel gaps are ***.

I personally just don't see the current Bonneville as something that'* feasible for its price. Sure, it'* a kickass car - don't get me wrong - but I think I'll be persuaded away from a GM dealer if I shopped around.
