When is it safe??
From a cool engine, say 75 F, at what temperature is it safe to apply full throttle higher rpm excursions :?:
I've always thought that obviously you should wait until up to normal operating temperature. So with the cooler runner stats of 180 or 160, I would think that as soon as the tempature is above about 140 it should be OK. But I have seen store ads boasting engine temps lower than 140 F??

I generally won't stomp on it until the temp is around 110. If it can put heat out of the vents then it is warm enough for me. I can tell when the engine is still cold when accelerating. If I feel the lag that it has then I back off until it warms up a little more.
I think the reasons for waiting are:
1) Get the oil circulated throughout the engine to prevent undue wear and tear on the interanl parts.
2) Give the internal pieces a chance to heat up evenly so that they don't warp or break.
This is what I've heard so I could be wrong, but it makes sence to me.
