yes the 40 Anniversary edition was offered in 97, this included 40th badges on the C pillars and 40th embroidered mats, and a Special option code on the RPO sitcker Y40, there were only 637 of the Y40 SSEi'* made

I bet the topic author is referring to other than the 40th. This sounds like the 'dealer package' or dealer badging item we've seen pop up from time to time.
There is no value in it, and is just something the dealer slaps on the car to try to sell it.
