heres an idea... in the email notification that gets sent out when a reply has been posted include the first reply sence the last visit. i've seen other forums do this and its pretty neat.
and... (sorry, i've got two)
maybe having your sig show up on only your first reply in each thread. that way if i post, say 10 times in one thread my sig is only in my first post. sometimes all this sig'* with pics in them kill my less then 56k connection at home.

I'm not busting your chops bro. It just occured to me that it would make life a ton easier to be able to differentiate between threads started by the person as opposed to threads the person responded to in a search.

Am I the only one? Or is there a better way?

There is the option to turn sigs off. Maybe it could be made a 3rd choice.

I have a suggestion, but forgive me if this has already been mentioned since I skimmed this really long thread.
A new theme. But not just any theme, a dark one. Staring at the white-background theme while im reading is like trying to read text on a lightbulb and it hurts the eyes. I always have to adjust my monitor when I go to this site. Just gawd aweful! But, we need to give options and leave the default theme for people who still want to use it but include the other darker one if people want to switch.
I would like to contribute by orchestrating the construction of a new, dark theme if no one else wants to do it. I have a phpbb site of my own, but I only modified the default themes that I downloaded:
www.clanmob.net

Thats fine, im saying you can still have the option to stick with the old theme but give others a choice. PhpBB works this way, you can change it in your profile.
www.descentbb.net is another example, perfect text color for the background.
